The year is almost over and the holidays are upon us.  Many people use this time to reflect on the year that has almost passed, and what a year it has been for Emergency Medicine!  Undoubtedly the highlight was the second EMSSA International Emergency Medicine Conference and more about this event to follow later in the newsletter.

The year is almost halfway through already! The elections have come and gone but the winter weather is here to stay with us for a while. Some exciting events have already taken place in the field of emergency medicine in South Africa this quarter, confirming that the provision of emergency medical care is a priority and there are dedicated and enthusiastic providers in this field.

Welcome to the first EMSSA newsletter of 2009!  We are already a long way into 2009 which promises to be an exciting year for Emergency Medicine.
